We are committed to helping charitable and voluntary organisations who work to help local people in the Parish.

Small Grants

We provide small grants to local community groups and charities that provide benefits to residents of our Parish.

A budget for small grants is set annually at the beginning of the financial year.

Priority is given to Penzance based organisations but the Council will consider grants to organisations not based in Penzance where they can show that they are directly working with, or on behalf of, Penzance residents.

In 2019/20 we awarded over £7,000 in small grant funding to the following organisations:

  • Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust
  • Golowan Reusable Cups
  • 1st Penzance Brownies
  • The Acorn
  • Musicability
  • West Cornwall Womens Aid
  • Wesley Rock
  • Food for Families
  • Penwith Education Trust
  • Penwith 50+ Forum
  • iSight Cornwall
  • Music at St Mary’s
  • Newlyn Archive
  • Newlyn Penzance International Film Festival
  • Penzance Chamber of Commerce/Dementia Forum
  • Penryn Literary Festival
  • Whole Again Communities CIC

Social Action Fund – Covid-19

We have also been providing emergency funding to organisations and groups who are helping our community during the Coronavirus pandemic.

The following organisations have benefited from this funding, enabling them to do more work in the community:

  • St Petrocs – Breadline
  • Whole Again Communities CIC
  • Growing Links CIC
  • Solomon Browne Memorial Hall
  • iSight Cornwall
  • Pengarth Day Centre
  • Food for Families
  • Fisherman’s Mission
  • West Cornwall Women’s Aid

We also give larger grants as match-funding for large projects and events that benefit our Parish such as Golowan, Montol, Sea Salts & Sail and local Christmas lights displays.

Grant funding is also available as part of our Climate Emergency Plan.
