Penzance Town Mayor - Dick Cliffe

Cllr Dick Cliffe joined Penzance Town Council in the May 2013 election and is currently in his second year as Penzance Town Mayor.  His association with Penzance goes back to 1981 when he married Glenis Blewett, a Newlyn maid, at Madron Parish Church after a tour as an engineering officer at RAF St Mawgan.  Dick left the RAF in 1998, worked on defence projects as a contractor and then later for Citizens Advice as a legal aid worker specialising in debt.  Dick & his wife returned to Penzance full time in 2007 as guest house owners.  Prior to joining the Council he was Chairman of Penzance Chamber of Commerce.  Dick and Glenis have 2 adult sons, one of who runs EasyPz (easy-peasy) Backpackers  in Penzance.

Dick's particular interest is economic regeneration and his reasons for joining the Council were to make a difference and give something something back - something he was unable to do as a serviceman and temporary resident in many different communities.
