The Civil Engineering Community Award

Voting has gone live for the Institution of Civil Engineering Community Award – for which Jubilee Pool has been nominated.

The 2017 Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) South West Civil Engineering

Awards celebrate outstanding civil engineering achievement, innovation and

ingenuity around the South West.

We are delighted to confirm that our Jubilee Pool Restoration Project, Penzance is the only Cornish project shortlisted for the ICE South West Civil Engineering Awards 2017.

The winter storms of 2014 ravaged the Pool. The Friends of Jubilee Pool, a registered charity with over 300 members, launched a petition signed by 3800 people to secure its future. Our works include extensive repairs and ingenious designs which involved research of historical photographs as well as using innovative technology.

This project, has improved a highly supported community amenity, boosted the local economy and promoted Civil Engineering to a global stage. Through the devolution process‐ this facility has now been transferred from Local Council control to the Friends group who are now responsible for its ongoing success

Everyone now has the chance to support CORMAC by voting for the Jubilee Pool Restoration Project in the ICE People’s Choice Awards.  Vote before the closing date of Friday 16 June 2017 and be in with a chance to win a Nikon Coolpix L340 Bridge Camera.
